What is the Student Portal?
The Student Portal is Cengage Education’s newly launched online space for students, tutors, and Cengage staff to interact. It is a secure, interactive learning environment providing services such as Unit Guides, assessments, tutor and mentor student communications, the Library, forums and announcements.
This central repository is designed to provide full access to course materials, learner guides, supporting contact and events.
The Student Portal allows students to contribute to the learning experience too, and provides the best possible support for ongoing and future studies.
With access to the Internet, you can access your course materials from any location, at any time – 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with all the support and guidance you need to achieve your learning goals!

The Student portal allows you access to our e-References, which provide the perfect electronic learning resources for students. Our searchable, on-demand database includes broad coverage of general interest areas and academic disciplines, featuring:
- Approximately 30 Million Database records
- More than 8,500 titles
- Over 4,900 full-text titles
- Full newspaper indexing of:
- The New York Times

Communication tools
The Student Portal makes it even easier for staff to answer student questions, offer academic advice and support, provide non-academic support, convey important information, and alert students to Unit-specific events.
Unit Lounges
The Student Portal is organized in the form of one Unit Lounge per Course. It allows:
- Access to Unit Readings
- Collaborative communications
- Assessment activity management via the calendar
- Online assessment, marking and feedback
- Grade notifications
eCourse
An eCourse is a multimedia publication which acts as a unit guide. It is the delivery format for Cengage Higher Education’s core unit materials.
All eCourses are published in DNL format, which requires a DNL reader. This is supplied free to all students.
Accessing the Student Portal
Access to The Portal is granted when enrolment in a Unit is confirmed. A username and password is then issued by Cengage Education, providing access to the Portal for the duration of a course(s).
Access to the Portal is terminated or limited when a student withdraws from a Course or Unit.
