How is the course delivered?
The course is delivered to students on a unit-by-unit basis in both hard copy and online.
Students will receive a complete set of study notes (called Unit Guides) in printed form as a book, and also in digital form online (eCourse format). Once downloaded, your digital book is fully accessible whether or not your computer is con
Students also receive the prescribed textbook for each unit, along with digital learning resources, such as the International Federation of Accountants Handbook, a student handbook and communication tools. Cengage Education provides all students with access to one of the world's largest online libraries, the Virtual Library, which contains millions of articles from Australian and international journals and books.
All uninvigilated assessments (that is, assessments that are not supervised examinations) are conducted online through the Portal. Likewise, the Cengage Library and other resources are accessed through the Unit Lounge for each unit in the Portal.
What is eCourse?
All units are delivered online through eCourse, a multimedia digital courseware technology unique to Cengage Education.
eCourse allows academics and students to create and share documents, ideas, works-in-progress. As well, eCourse allows assessment activities to take place online in a secure and integrated authoring-and-packaging transactional environment. eCourse requires no mediating or enabling interface, such as a learning management system.
Students can easily master eCourse in a very short time and eCourse uses very few system resources. It can be installed on your desktop remotely in less than one minute. The technology is simple, intuitive and functional across the spectrum of connectivity and bandwidth, with a high level of offline functionality.
Computer requirements.
All students are required to have access to a laptop or desktop
computer running Windows and an Internet connection to access learning
materials and the Virtual Library, complete assessments and to
communicate with tutors and mentors.
The preferred Internet browsers are Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox.

- Robust and secure student management tools, such as secure access (e.g. password-protected logins); registration procedures; personal information update capability; and general student tracking functions.
- Easy access to hyperlinked resources, including library and case study materials.
- A simple Digital Rights Management capability to protect intellectual property, and to facilitate wide dissemination of courseware in accordance with law, without exposure to viruses or spam.
- The highest degree of accessibility in variable connectivity environments, requiring only a standard browser.
- An extremely high level of offline functionality, minimising dependence on Internet connection for many tasks.
