The Certificate III in Fitness course is the entry level requirement for working within the fitness industry. Students will have the skills and knowledge on successful completion of this course to become a gym class instructor, as well as an exciting start in the rapidly growing fitness industry.

Students will learn the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to instruct classes in a gymnasium, (gym instructor). In addition to the fitness requirements for this qualification students will receive three informative textbooks, nutrition and diet information and gain invaluable knowledge and skills through a combination of workplace experience and theory lessons.

Prerequisites:

Students need a current Level 2 First Aid Certificate to complete this course.

First Aid certificate

It is mandatory for students to submit a current First Aid Certificate for the following competency:

  • SRXFAD002A: Provide advanced first aid response-correlates to a Senior or Level 2 First Aid Certificate

Students will need to have completed and hold a current full Senior or Level 2 First Aid Certificate, issued by an accredited provider.

 

Additional requirements

Students need access to a workplace (NOT provided by Cengage Education) for some of the activities and assessments in this course. A current Level 2 First Aid certificate is required.

What is Workplace Assessment?

Workplace training and assessment is the gathering and evaluation of evidence during normal work activities in order to determine whether a required element within a competency has been achieved. Workplace assessment will entail a combination of recognition of prior learning, observation, questioning, discussion and third party validation.

Workplace Assessment requirements:

As part of this qualification Cengage Education will organise workplacement opportunities for students to undertake supervised work placement. Cengage Education is Equal Opportunity Provider, and will endeavour to meet special needs, cultural and geographical workplacement requirements where possible. In the event that students have previously arranged workplacement, Cengage Educations Workplace Coordinator will confirm the suitability of this arrangement and liaise with the appropriate qualified Supervisor/Manger on the student’s behalf.

The role of the Workplace Coordinator:

Cengage Education Workplace Coordinator ensures that all parties involved work in conjunction with each other, to support the workplace assessment process.

The Workplace Coordinator will liaise with the Students, Supervisor/Managers, and also the Cengage Education Assessors throughout this process, to ensure validity of the assessment outcome.
